Titanium alloy

Audental TC4 SLM Powder

TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V), the aerospace-grade titanium alloy: biocompatible and about half the weight of cobalt-chrome.

Composition

  • Ti 90%
  • Al 6%
  • V 4%
  • N, H, O, C < 1% each

Cobalt-chrome alloy

Audental Cobalt SLM Powder

A molybdenum- and tungsten-bearing cobalt-chrome for metal-ceramic work, the long-standing choice for porcelain, rated by the manufacturer for spans up to 16 units.

Composition

  • Co 61.5%
  • Cr 28.1%
  • Mo 5.3%
  • W 5%
  • Si 1%
  • Fe, Mn < 1% each

Removable prosthetics

Cobalt-chrome alloy

Audental Cobalt H

Formulated for removable partial denture frameworks produced by laser sintering. Its higher tungsten content and absence of molybdenum are what separate it from the crown-and-bridge grade.

Composition

  • Co 61.5%
  • Cr 27.8%
  • W 8.5%
  • Si 1.5%
  • Mn, Fe < 1% each

Choosing a material

Titanium or cobalt-chrome?

Both still have a place. Cobalt-chrome is the stiffer alloy and the long-standing choice for porcelain work; titanium is far lighter and the stronger of the two. Tell us the case and we will tell you which we would use.

the weight of cobalt-chrome
4.5 g/cm³ against 8.5: the same framework comes out at roughly half the mass.
~2×
stiffer in cobalt-chrome
200 GPa against titanium's 110 GPa, which is why cobalt-chrome still holds long spans.
+58%
yield strength in TC4
950 ± 50 MPa against 600 MPa, while still elongating 13% before fracture.
0%
nickel and beryllium
Neither element appears in TC4 or in either cobalt-chrome grade.

Questions

What labs ask about the powders

Which powders do you supply?
Three: Audental TC4 titanium alloy (Ti-6Al-4V), and two cobalt-chrome grades: Cobalt SLM for crown and bridge, Cobalt H for removable frameworks.
Which printers do they run on?
The Space Ti-160 and the compact Mini-100, both of which we also supply. Tell us which machine you run and we will confirm the material set with the quote.
What comes with the powder?
An IdentAlloy® certificate for every batch, naming the alloy classification and composition. The product-label markings are ISO 22074, ISO 13485 and CE 0197.
How is pricing handled?
Powder is quoted per order: alloy, quantity and delivery schedule all move the number. Use the Get a Quote button on any of the three above and we price it the same business day.

Materials ship with their IdentAlloy®/IdentCeram® certificates.
